Synthetic phonics is absolutely the best was to teach a child to read. One of the very best books for teaching kindergartners or younger is "An Ant - Learn to Read." It has all the basics plus really great stories with color illustrations. Kind of like a comic? book, but much better!

Why is? there no mention of how reading should be taught? All the experts I trust insist on synthetic phonics. Conversely, my own research tells me that Sight Words can not work.
